Trump vs. Biden - Sharon Stone about US election: 'I am deeply concerned'

Hollywood star Sharon Stone expresses concern for the future of her homeland in light of the intensified US election campaign. "I am a proud American. I love my country and of course I am deeply concerned," said the 66-year-old at the Taormina Film Festival in the eponymous resort on Sicily. This is the first time someone has built their campaign on the basis of hate and suppression, Stone added.

She did not name names, but she probably meant former President Donald Trump, who was recently nominated as the Republican Party's candidate for the upcoming Presidential election. He has been making controversial statements in the past few months and recently complicated his rhetoric on the topic of immigration.

Sharon Stone: Delighted about the Award, Worried about US Politics

Sharon Stone has been in Sicily for a few days. On Friday evening, she received an award for her life's work in Taormina. The Cariddi d'Oro had previously gone to Hollywood greats like Robert De Niro, Tom Cruise, Sophia Loren, and Nicole Kidman. Italian tabloids reported extensively on her appearance at the film festival.

With her role in the erotic thriller "Basic Instinct," Sharon Stone became world-famous nearly 30 years ago. Following that were films like "Casino," "Catwoman," and "The Disaster Artist." Stone announced in Taormina that her artwork would be exhibited in the Museum Ara Pacis in Rome in November.

Sharon Stone expressed her delight at receiving the Cariddi d'Oro award for her lifetime achievements during her stay in Taormina, but she was also concerned about the divisive US campaign, possibly referring to former President Donald Trump's recent Republican Party nomination and his controversial statements on immigration.

Despite her concerns, Sharon Stone looked forward to her upcoming art exhibition at the Museum Ara Pacis in Rome, showcasing her work to Italian audiences, a testament to her enduring love for the arts.
