Shannen Doherty continues to fight for her life

In the summer, Shannen Doherty makes it public that the cancer has metastasized to her brain. She now approaches life differently than before. In a new podcast, she wants to talk candidly about the disease.

For some time now, former "Beverly Hills, 90210" actress Shannen Doherty has been extremely open about her cancer. The actress announced her new podcast "Let's Be Clear with Shannen Doherty" on Instagram. The 52-year-old wants to "open up like never before" in "brutally honest conversations" with former co-stars, friends, family members and even her doctors. The first episode is expected to be released on December 7.

Doherty, who is known to many from the hit series "Beverly Hills, 90210" and "Charmed", was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015. She had both breasts amputated. After the disease initially seemed to have been beaten, Doherty made it public in 2020 that she had been diagnosed with stage four breast cancer again. In June, she announced on Instagram that the cancer had metastasized to her brain.

"I don't want to die," she now says in an interview with the US magazine "People". She is fighting back. "I'm not done with life yet. I'm not done with life yet. I'm not done creating. I'm not done changing things hopefully for the better," Doherty explains. "I'm just not ... I'm not done yet." She believes, for example, that her "best memory" is yet to come.

Doherty wants to collect donations

"People just assume that the disease means you can't walk, you can't eat and you can't work," Doherty says. "I know it sounds cheesy and crazy, but you're just more aware of everything and feel so blessed. We are the people who want to work the most because we are just so grateful for every second, every hour, every day that we get to spend here."

Asking yourself questions like "Why did I get cancer?" or "Why did my cancer come back?" leads you to search "for the greater meaning in life".

Doherty hopes to raise funds for cancer research, among other things: "It's crazy to me that we still don't have a cure."

Amidst her battle with cancer, Shannen Doherty expressed her desire to explore entertainment in a new light. She planned to delve deeply into her experiences with the disease in her upcoming podcast, aiming to foster "brutally honest conversations" with various guests.

Despite her ongoing illness, Shannen Doherty remains determined to contribute to cancer research. She hopes to generate funds for potential breakthroughs and a potential cure, believing it's "crazy" that medical advancements have not yet eradicated the disease.
