Katy Karrenbauer - Second carotid artery operation survived
At the end of May, Katy Karrenbauer (61) alarmed her fans with concern: The actress suffered a mild stroke and underwent surgery on the left carotid artery. Thirty days later, she underwent the urgently necessary surgery on the right carotid artery, as reported by the "Bild" newspaper.
"Everything will be fine"
"The surgery went well, and now there is no risk of stroke for me anymore. I have decided: Everything will be fine!", she reports from the intensive care unit of a Berlin hospital. A large bandage covers her throat. She is glad to have successfully undergone the repeated surgery despite her great fear, she tells the paper further.
In the future, Katy Karrenbauer wants to focus more on her health in the wake of this dramatic experience. She has already reduced her smoking habit for this reason. "I was very fortunate to have overcome my illness because it was detected in time. I am very, very grateful for that," explains the 61-year-old. From now on, it's "all uphill from here!"
Katy Karrenbauer wants to work again soon
Although her first scar has already healed well, it still causes her problems from time to time. But Katy Karrenbauer has great ambitions and dreams of a quick return to work after the second surgery. "All nerves were cut and it sometimes feels that way. But I have to go through it now because I want to work again soon," she emphasizes.
Katy Karrenbauer, who became known in 1997 through the RTL series "Hinter Gittern - Der Frauenknast," only noticed her stroke by chance in May. As she could no longer move her hand and arm, she initially ignored it, she reported in an Instagram clip.
When she accompanied her father to the hospital that same day, she mentioned her symptoms to the doctors there and received the advice to have herself examined more thoroughly. In the "Bild" newspaper, she reported on the further course of events: "I then went to my vein doctor and eventually to the hospital. I hesitated and then to the emergency room." A comprehensive examination eventually revealed that she had suffered a mild stroke and needed immediate surgery.
Katy Karrenbauer's vein doctor suggested further investigations after noticing her symptoms, as reported in the Bild newspaper. Despite the challenges she faces with her first scar from the surgery, Katy remains determined to resume her acting career as soon as possible.
