Scorpions abandon their scheduled concerts in Germany
Bad news for Scorpions enthusiasts worldwide! The iconic German hard rock band has unfortunately had to cancel their five scheduled gigs in September due to lead guitarist Matthias Jabs' injury. According to reports, Jabs sustained this injury during his vacation on Sylt. The Scorpions express their sincere apologies for this abrupt change of plans.
Fans were left in shock when the band's official Instagram account announced that all their German shows planned for September 2024 have been cancelled. The reason given was an injury to Matthias Jabs, which requires medical intervention and subsequent rehabilitation. The exact details of the incident remain undisclosed.
However, Bild newspaper had previously reported that Jabs fell down a staircase during his Sylt vacation, resulting in a broken heel and a fractured finger. The cancellations have also been updated on the band's official website. The Scorpions were set to perform in the Czech Republic on September 7th before returning to Germany for shows in Nuremberg, Hamburg, Leipzig, Cologne, and Frankfurt.
The band's statement conveyed their deep regret, particularly for Matthias Jabs, and asked for understanding from their fans. They promised to share any new information about possible rescheduled dates as soon as possible. With over 40,000 tickets already sold for these shows, many fans will be impacted by this sudden cancellation.
Scorpions set for a biopic
Despite this setback, the Scorpions continue to hold a significant place in Germany's musical landscape. Guitarist Rudolf Schenker established the band's precursor, Nameless, in Hannover in 1965. Singer Klaus Meine joined four years later, and lead guitarist Matthias Jabs became a part of the band in 1978.
In an inspirational turn of events, Klaus Meine came up with the idea for "Wind of Change" during a concert in Moscow. This song was featured in their 1990 album, "Crazy World," and became a worldwide hit and an enduring symbol of the fall of the Soviet Union and the end of the Cold War. Now, these rock legends are set to be honoured with a biopic, which, according to Deadline, will bear the same name as their most successful hit.
Fans who were eagerly anticipating the Scorpions' rock music performances in September were disappointed when the shows were abruptly cancelled due to Matthias Jabs' injury. Despite this setback, the band's upcoming biopic, named after their hit song "Wind of Change," promises to honor their enduring legacy in the world of music.
