Schweinsteigers take Matthias into the family
There is actor Matthias Schweighöfer on the one hand and footballer Bastian Schweinsteiger on the other - the similarity of the names of the two guests causes show host Thomas Gottschalk noticeable problems during his "Wetten, dass...?" farewell. Those affected take it with humor.
While the last edition of "Wetten, dass...?" with Thomas Gottschalk flickered across the screens on Saturday evening, there were many posts on social media about a triviality: right at the beginning of the show, the popular star presenter accidentally made his guest, actor Matthias Schweighöfer, a relative of his later guest Bastian Schweinsteiger.
Before the ex-Bayern star took to the stage in Offenburg with his wife Ana Ivanovic, Gottschalk mistakenly referred to Schweighöfer, who had the trailer for his new film "Girl You Know It's True" with him, as Matthias Schweinsteiger.
Apparently still on the stage of the ZDF program, Bastian Schweinsteiger and Matthias Schweighöfer recorded a humorous video together in response to Gottschalk's little faux pas, which both ZDF and Schweighöfer himself shared on Instagram. In the clip, Schweinsteiger and Schweighöfer first introduce themselves together as "Matthias Schweinsteiger". "Matthias Schweinsteiger, Schweighöfer, married for life," soccer world champion Schweinsteiger then jokes, before actor Schweighöfer explains: "We are simply the S-C-H-Ws."
"Allow me, Matthias Schweinsteiger! We wish you a Merry Christmas!", reads the accompanying post text. The post had already been liked over 32,000 times on Instagram by midday on Sunday. There is also a lot of praise in the comments column. "The two of them are handling the 'slip of the tongue' just right. With humor! Very likeable!" is one comment. Another user commented: "The silence of the men."
In another Instagram post, Schweighöfer can be seen lying on the ""Wetten, dass...?" couch. The photo is accompanied by the text: "Good night, my dears & greetings to Thomas. Your favorite show baller Matthias Schweinsteiger!"
Former tennis star Ana Ivanovic, who has been married to Bastian Schweinsteiger since 2016, also picked up on Thomas Gottschalk's "Wetten, dass...?" slip of the tongue with a tongue-in-cheek Instagram post. The former tennis world number one captioned a picture of her and her husband with actor star Schweighöfer in the middle: "Welcome to the family, Matthias Schweinsteiger", followed by a laughing emoji.
