'Saturday Night Live' introduces three new comedians into its fold, with Chloe Troast bidding farewell
The late-night comedy show apparently brings aboard Ashley Padilla, Emil Wakim, and Jane Wickline to its team, as per Deadline's reports.
Padilla, who joined The Groundlings' Main Company in 2021, has also featured in "Night Court" and "Curb Your Enthusiasm."
Wakim, of Lebanese-American descent, was named the New Face of Comedy at the 2022 Just For Laughs Comedy Festival, coincidentally the year he graced "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon" for the first time.
Wickline gained prominence through collecting a devoted following on TikTok, appearing as a cast member in "Stapleview." She can be spotted in the 2024 Mubi film "My First Film," and embarks on stand-up comedy tours.
As "SNL" expands its cast, Chloe Troast, a current cast member, indicated on social media that she won't be returning for the upcoming season.
"Regrettably, I wasn't invited back to SNL this season," Troast posted. "I would've loved to reunite with the wonderful friends I made there, it felt like a home. But it wasn't my fate."
Previously, Punkie Johnson and Molly Kearney had announced their decision not to return for Season 50.
The 50th anniversary season of "SNL" is expected to feature numerous celebratory moments, combined with ample political satire with former cast member Maya Rudolph making occasional appearances as Vice President Kamala Harris who is now in her role.
Ashley Padilla's addition to the late-night comedy show's team means an influx of fresh entertainment, continuing the show's tradition of showcasing diverse talents.
Emil Wakim's success on shows like "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon" and being named the New Face of Comedy at Just For Laughs further solidifies his place in the entertainment realm.
