Entertainment - Santa Maria at the Elbe - "Kaisermania" returns in Dresden
Giant Stage, unique backdrop, thousands of fans and fence crashers - everything is ready at Dresden's Elbe Riverbank for the legendary "Kaisermania". Singer Roland Kaiser starts off the annual edition on Friday evening with four concerts. For the first time, the 72-year-old has a guest: German pop singer Georg Stengel, as a spokeswoman from Semmel Concerts Entertainment GmbH revealed.
The "Kaisermania" is unique and a phenomenon in Dresden. For 20 years, the singer has made the Elbe Riverbank opposite the famous Baroque facade a party zone with his music. Tickets for the concerts during the Filmnights are always sold out within a few minutes, fans travel from within and outside the country. Hundreds of fence crashers celebrate around the fenced area for free - on meadows, bridges and the opposite Old Town side.
Kaiser, a native of Berlin, has had a special relationship with the Elbe City since his first visit in 1990. He confessed his love for it and the people many times, and wrote a hymn for his "affair" Dresden years ago. Two concerts are planned for this and the first August weekend. For the last performance with TV broadcasting, there is even a Public Viewing - in the small community of Seeligstadt, about 25 kilometers east of the Dresden Königsufer.
