Since Oscar nomination - Sandra Hüller notices changes in her surroundings

Actress Sandra Hüller (46/"Anatomy of a Case") has noticed changes in her environment following her Oscar nomination. "Some people don't seem to realize that their behavior has changed. I sometimes wonder if I should point this out to them," she told the "Süddeutsche Zeitung" (Saturday edition). "And some people who were only somewhat close to me before have suddenly put a filter on their gaze towards me. They look at me differently. As if there was something about me they hadn't noticed before. It's then difficult for me to connect with them."

Hüller, who this year was nominated for an Oscar for her leading role in "Anatomy of a Case" and won a Golden Globe, presents her new film "Two for One" at the Munich Film Festival. The official opening of the festival was to be marked by the world premiere of the DDR comedy.

New DDR comedy with Sandra Hüller

In this film by director and screenwriter Natja Brunckhorst, it's about the so-called Halberstadt Treasure - tonnes of East Mark notes, which were stored in a vault in Sachsen-Anhalt after reunification.

Brunckhorst, who became known as an actress in her role as "Christiane F." in the 1980s, uses the real-life circumstances, according to the Munich Film Festival, as a starting point to spin the story further and tells the story of friends Maren (Hüller), Robert (Max Riemelt), and Volker (Ronald Zehrfeld), who discover the hidden millions and decide to take one step away from the emerging capitalism by developing a clever system to systematically put the soon-to-be worthless money back into circulation.

"I didn't feel like we were making a comedy, but we tried to find a light tone. Not to take things too seriously," Hüller said in an interview about whether comedies are easier to shoot than serious dramas. "I find filming difficult only when we don't understand each other," Hüller, who has revived her Thuringian hometown dialect for the film, added. "And we understood each other very well."
