Russians launch glide bomb attack on DIY store in Kharkiv.
Russian attackers are still going after civilian areas in Ukraine, this time hitting a hardware store in Kharkiv. Over 200 people were present at the time of the attack, resulting in casualties.
As per official reports, a hardware store in the eastern Ukrainian city of Kharkiv was hit by at least one glide bomb during a Russian air strike. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy updated on the incident via the X platform, sharing that there were people killed and injured. Zelenskyy described it as an inhumane attack carried out by the Russian military.
The scene was captured in early footage, which revealed heavy smoke surrounding the hardware store building and a person lying in front of it. As per news sources in Ukraine, at least two people lost their lives in the store.
An additional 24 people suffered injuries, as announced by Governor of the Kharkiv region, Oleg Synegubov, via Telegram. "This attack on Kharkiv is just another example of Russian insanity," Synegubov added.
Zelenskyy once again pleaded for more air defense systems for his country, stating in his post, "If Ukraine had an adequate amount of air defense systems and modern fighter jets, these sort of Russian strikes would be impossible." He reached out to Ukraine's supporters, saying, "We urgently need to upgrade our air defense systems and the capability to destroy Russian aggressors."
Ukraine has been defending itself against a Russian invasion, receiving backing from the West for over two years. Time and again, Russia targets non-military targets. Historic instances have put the country's energy infrastructure under focus.
