Russia announces the capture of a Ukrainian stronghold.
Ukraine's military has been facing tough times for weeks now. With a shortage of ammo and increasing attacks by Russia in Kharkiv, the situation is growing more dire. The situation in the Luhansk region is particularly concerning, as it's reported that they're completely under Russian control after a Ukrainian fort fell.
Russian forces have declared victory in the village of Bilohorivka, once a symbol of Ukrainian resistance in the Luhansk region. This village, previously inhabited by about 800 people, had been a significant holding for the Ukrainian military. The Russian Defense Ministry boasted, "The units of the South group of troops have fully liberated the village of Bilohorivka in the Luhansk People's Republic and have taken more advantageous positions."
Despite this claim by the Russian Ministry, Ukraine asserts that Russian troops have not, in fact, taken control of Bilohorivka. The Ukrainian General Staff, based in Kiev, stated on Facebook, "Ukrainian defense forces have continued to resist the enemy's advance, trying to keep the Bilohorivka area secure."
Back in early 2022, Vladimir Putin first recognized the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics as free states before launching his war against Ukraine. His stated reason for the invasion was to safeguard Russian citizens in those regions. Since then, the Kremlin has been working to assert complete dominion over these territories.
Ukraine's military has been tasked with defending against both a new Russian offensive in the Kharkiv region and dealing with a depleted supply of ammunition at the front lines. Moscow has reported numerous advances in recent days.
Russia's been waging war against Ukraine for more than two years now, routinely shelling civilian areas, leading to casualties and fatalities. Ukrainian shelling of Russian-controlled areas has also resulted in casualties.

The 'Attack on Ukraine' by Russia has escalated significantly, resulting in wars and conflicts that have lasted over two years. The capture of a Ukrainian stronghold in Bilohorivka adds to the concern, as Russia seeks to assert complete dominion over the Luhansk region, despite Ukraine's assertions of continued resistance.
