Russia and China find a political accord as a feasible choice.
Xi Jinping, the head of state and party leader in Beijing, believes that a political agreement can help resolve the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine. He made this statement during a visit by Russian President Vladimir Putin to China, expressing both countries' hopes for peace and stability in the region.
Rather than condemning Russia's actions in Ukraine, China has maintained a neutral position and even backed Moscow in the UN Security Council as an important trading partner. Meanwhile, some allege that Chinese goods deliveries have been supporting the country's arms industry, resulting in sanctions imposed on Chinese companies by the U.S.
Putin expressed gratitude for China's efforts in resolving the conflict, mentioning a previously proposed twelve-point plan created by Beijing. However, with the proposals being vague and facing criticism, it's unclear how much progress has been made towards finding a solution.
Beijing has not yet confirmed its participation in the upcoming peace conference in Switzerland, which Russia is choosing not to attend. Despite its influence on Moscow, Russia is unlikely to show much interest in the conference, making China's role crucial in bringing an end to the crisis.
