A massive water pipe rupture occurred in Berlin-Neukölln, resulting in numerous residents being forced to vacate their homes. The incident also caused water to be shut off in surrounding apartments, as a fire department representative informed. Basements were submerged, and the road filled with water. A considerable apartment building at the junction of Sonnenallee and Ederstraße was completely submerged. Experts would assess if the structure's foundation risked collapsing.

Approximately 50 people were removed from their apartments at the building's immediate vicinity by the fire department. These individuals, particularly the elderly and disabled, were provided with care and provisions. Because of this, electricity and gas were likewise shut down for many dwellings.

The fire department had been working diligently since around 6:00 a.m. The enormous pipe, which had a diameter of approximately 40 cm, reportedly ruptured beneath the street. Given its high velocity, the water spilled rapidly. It took time to discontinue the water flow in the pipe. Sonnenallee road was closed in the early morning. The water firms' personnel were present at the location.
