RTL announces revolution on "The Bachelor"
A love-hungry bachelor has already gone in search of his dream woman 13 times on RTL. And next year, of course, the channel will be handing out roses again. But then it will be two single men - "The Bachelor" will become "The Bachelors".
From now on, one rose-hunter is not enough on "The Bachelor". RTL has announced that in the upcoming 14th season of the successful dating show, two candidates will enter the race for their respective dream woman. The two bachelors will vie for the hearts of the contestants in a direct duel. The format will even be renamed for this: "The Bachelor" will become "The Bachelors".
The number of women available for selection will not be doubled, but will remain the same. In fact, there will be slightly fewer participants than before. According to RTL, 22 female singles will be taking part in the upcoming season. In the last edition of the show, there were 23 contestants (including those who moved up), and in 2022 there will be 24.
The new season of the format breaks with another habit: the show does not start in an exotic location as usual, but in Germany. Only after the first sniffing around on home soil will the two rose-hunters and their chosen ones fly to South Africa.
Back to South Africa
This is the first time since the fourth season in 2014 that filming has taken place in the African country again. Since then, the USA and Mexico have hosted the action. There has only been one flirtation in Germany so far: The eleventh season with "Bachelor" Niko Griesert had to do without exotic flair due to the corona pandemic.
It is not yet clear exactly when "The Bachelors" will start on RTL and RTL+. In 2023, it started on March 1, in previous years in January. The names of the two men who will compete in the dream girl duel are also not yet known. They are to be presented on Wednesday.
