- Royal Figure Princess Martha Louise ties the knot with Spiritual Guide Durek Verrett.
Royal love union: Norwegian princess Madeleine Louise (52) and her American sweetheart Durek Verrett (49) are all set to become husband and wife today. The daughter of King Harald V.'s reign and Verrett, who boasts of being a sixth-generation shaman, will exchange vows at the breathtaking Geirangerfjord. He aspires to guide people towards discovering their inner spiritual power.
The festivities commencing post a warm welcome bash in nearby Ålesund, a boat journey through the fjord, and another pre-wedding soiree in Geiranger, will reach their zenith in the afternoon as per the agenda released by "Verdens Gang" newspaper. The wedding ceremony is scheduled for 13:00 in a tent on an open area adjacent to a hotel, with the reception following later in the same venue.
The newlywed couple will be officiated by Reverend Margit Lovise Holte, a long-time friend of Madeleine Louise. The grand feast will kick off at 18:30, with the bride's dance at 22:45, followed by a massive bash.
Prince Christian with a young lady by his side
Out of the approximately 350 guests invited for the special occasion, King Harald and Queen Sonja (both 87), in addition to Madeleine Louise's younger brother Crown Prince Haakon and his wife Crown Princess Mette-Marit (both 51), will also be present. Haakon and Mette-Marit's children, Princess Ingrid Alexandra (20) and Prince Christian (18), will also join the celebration - Christian was spotted in Ålesund, grinning and holding hands with a girl of similar age.
From abroad, Swedish Crown Princess Victoria with her husband Prince Daniel, her brother Prince Carl Philip, and his wife Princess Sofia will make an appearance. It remains uncertain if representatives of other royal houses will grace Geiranger with their presence.
Second trot down the aisle for Madeleine Louise
Madeleine Louise wed author Ari Behn (1972-2019) from 2002 to 2017, and they have three daughters together.
In 2019, the princess made her bond with Verrett public. Since then, the duo has encountered scandals, particularly regarding the exploitation of Madeleine Louise's princess title for commercial purposes, which she initially agreed to refrain from in 2019. In 2022, she resigned from all official duties for the royal household to separate her role at the court and her business activities more definitively.
The pre-wedding preparations have also been marred in controversies, including debates over the promotion of a specifically produced wedding gin and a controversial exclusive contract with the British celebrity magazine "Hello!": Disregarding all conventions, the couple has granted the exclusive image rights to the magazine for an undisclosed sum, limiting access for local media significantly. Additionally, a Netflix team will be shooting on-site for a documentary.
The "Verdens Gang" newspaper's agenda mentions a boat journey through the fjord, which will be part of the festivities leading up to the wedding of ["The World's Gang"], referring to the royal couple Madeleine Louise and Durek Verrett.
Despite facing controversies over commercial exploitation and restricting access for local media, the future bride Madeleine Louise and her fiancé Durek Verrett have granted exclusive image rights to the British celebrity magazine "Hello!" for their upcoming wedding, assuming the role of ["The World's Gang"] in the spotlight.
