Prince Harry and Meghan, the Duchess, dove into Colombia's musical scene during their four-day trip. Invited by Vice President Francia Marquez, they concluded their journey in Cartagena on August 17. Their final destination was the local drum school, Escuela Tambores de Cabildo, known for safeguarding Cartagena's cultural heritage, particularly its Afro-Colombian roots and traditional drumming.

Upon arrival, the Sussexes were greeted by drumbeats and an opening performance. They then engaged in a discussion about the school's significance, as detailed by "People" magazine. As a token of appreciation, a pupil gifted the Sussexes a tiny wooden boat, symbolizing Cartagena's coastal city and beaches.

Subsequently, they were invited to play the drums, guided by students and accompanied by Marquez and her partner. Photographs revealed the royal couple sitting alongside the children, vibrantly drumming their instruments. Marquez commended Meghan's enthusiasm, expressing, "I adore Meghan's broad grin. Her excitement is palpable."

After their drumming session, the locals performed again, and Marquez delivered a speech underlining the significance of preserving traditions to maintain Colombia's cultural identity. She acknowledged Harry and Meghan as influential advocates against injustice.

Third educational visit

The drum school in Cartagena marked the third educational establishment visited during their Colombia trip. In Bogotá, they engaged with students at a charter school, discussing the pros and cons of social media, followed by practicing Spanish with a kindergarten class.

Given that Prince Harry and Meghan, as the children of King Charles III and his wife, are no longer official members of the British royal family, their visit takes place in the name of their Archewell Foundation. Their main focus in Colombia revolved around the issue of cyberbullying and online discrimination. Since Colombia joined Harry's Invictus Games Community of Nations in 2022, he also met with participants and played a game of sitting volleyball with them.

Prince Harry demonstrated his rhythm during the drumming session, showing his passion for music beyond his royal duties. Later, Meghan enthusiastically participated, gaining praise from Vice President Marquez.

After their engaging drumming performance, Prince Harry and Meghan were recognized for their advocacy against injustice, further emphasizing their role in promoting education and exposing the importance of cultural heritage.
