Cast for a new TV series: Richard Gere (74, "Chicago", "Pretty Woman") will appear in the spy thriller series "The Agency" produced by Paramount+. According to the streaming service, he will play the role of a former spy named Bosko, who now heads the agency's headquarters in London. The filming for the ten-episode series has begun, it was reported.

Gere, who presented his new film "Oh, Canada" at the Cannes Film Festival in May, has mostly avoided television roles in his long Hollywood career. Exceptions were the British miniseries "MotherFatherSon" (2019), the TV film "And the Band Played On" (1993), and a small guest role in 1976 in the crime series "Kojak – An Issue of Manhattan".

In "The Agency", a remake of the French TV series "Buro der Legenden", Gere encounters the German-Irish actor Michael Fassbender (47, "The Killer", "X-Men"). He plays a CIA agent who returns to the London office after a long-term undercover mission. There, he faces an old love and a new, dangerous assignment. The direction is taken over by British director Joe Wright ("Darkest Hour").

Joining them is Hollywood star George Clooney (63), this time as executive producer. Clooney and his production partner Grant Heslov produced films such as "Argo", "August: Osage County", and "Monuments Men – Uncommon Heroes" before.
