Reveal in Dutch edition of "Endgame"

It's a question that interests many: Who in the royal family speculated about the skin color of Harry and Meghan's baby? The Dutch edition of a new book about the British royal family is said to inadvertently reveal this. Now it needs to be "corrected".

The Dutch edition of a new book about the British royal family has been withdrawn from the market because it is said to have inadvertently revealed which member of the royal family had commented on the color of Harry and Meghan's baby's skin. "Eindstrijd", the Dutch version of the book "Endgame" by British journalist Omid Scobie, has been temporarily withdrawn from sale, the publisher Xander explained.

An error had occurred in the Dutch translation, "which is currently being corrected", the publisher added. According to British media reports, the name of the family member who triggered a family dispute with a comment about the skin color of Harry and Meghan's babies was inadvertently mentioned in the book. This had deepened the rift between Harry and Meghan and the rest of the family.

Meghan, the daughter of a black mother and white father, had told talk show host Oprah Winfrey in 2021 that a family member had asked her how dark her first child's skin would be.

Prince William: "We are not a racist family"

The then Prince and now King Charles then denied accusations that he was the one. His son William told reporters: "We are not a racist family" and explained that he did not regard the remark as racist, but as a case of "unconscious bias".

Nevertheless, the incident plunged the royal family into a crisis. The New York Times reported that the family then agreed that Harry and Meghan would no longer raise the issue in future.

Meghan's accusation of racism drew criticism as well as ridicule. US comedian Chris Rock , for example, said in a stage show: "Some of the crap Meghan went through wasn't racism. It was just a bit of in-law crap." As for the baby's future skin color, Rock noted that this question had not only concerned white members of the British court. "Black people were asking themselves exactly the same question."

The controversy surrounding the British Royal Family's comments about Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's baby's skin color has also been a topic in the entertainment world. Comedian Chris Rock discussed it in one of his shows, acknowledging that even within the black community, there were questions about the baby's future complexion.

The withdrawal of the Dutch edition of "Endgame" has further highlighted the international interest in understanding who within the royal family made such remarks, and how it impacted the relationship between Harry, Meghan, and the rest of the family.
