In 2018, Victoria's Secret Angels took their final stride on the runway, but this autumn, the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show is making its return. Beauty icons Tyra Banks (50) and Gigi Hadid (29) made the announcement via an Instagram post.
Tyra Baced her way into nine of the annual shows during her stint with the lingerie label, which was broadcast on US TV, attracting up to 12 million viewers. Despite the end of the TV runway show, Gigi Hadid remained loyal to the underwear empire and was a part of last year's touring team. Now, both are set to rejoin the iconic Victoria's Secret Show in New York City this October, as announced on the official Instagram of the brand.
In the Instagram video, Hadid enters a hotel lobby where Banks greets her with an invitation to the show, sporting a shirt and jacket promoting this year's event. The caption reads: "Sorry, couldn't write a caption, we were too busy picking our jaws up off the floor when Tyra Banks and Gigi Hadid handed out VSFS invitations. You get it."
Supermodel Reunion
The lingerie brand has revealed that other models like Candice Swanepoel (35), Imaan Hammam (27), Grace Elizabeth (27), Taylor Hill (28), and plus-size model Paloma Elsesser (32) will be participating.
In May, Victoria's Secret took to Instagram to announce the show's return in the fall: "We've listened, and we're back. The Victoria's Secret Fashion Show is coming back to represent us as we are today, along with all the glitz, glam, runway, wings, and musical entertainment you've come to love."
Empowering, Modern, Created by Women, for Women
The 2024 show is expected to be more inclusive than its predecessors. "The Victoria's Secret Fashion Show 2024 will deliver everything our customers have been asking for - glitz, glam, fashion, fun, wings, entertainment. But through a strong, modern lens that represents who we are today," the brand announced in May. "We're excited to present a female-led version of this legendary brand later this year!"
The grand unveiling of upcoming lingerie trends has transformed into a spectacle over the years, featuring top models like Heidi Klum (51) and high-profile artists. The title of Victoria's Secret Angel has been bestowed upon many a model. However, following criticism for lacking inclusivity, the show was canceled in 2019. In 2023, the show's organizers launched "The Tour."
Gigi Hadid, who remained loyal to Victoria's Secret after the runway show's TV end, is set to rejoin the brand for this year's Victoria's Secret Fashion Show, as announced in an Instagram post by both her and Tyra Banks.
