Report: Kanye West is in Moscow to celebrate

Kanye West has made no secret of his admiration for Russian President Putin. It is now reported that the US rapper may have traveled to Moscow to celebrate the birthday of a friend.

According to Russian media reports, controversial US rapper Kanye West has arrived in Moscow for a private visit. "Kanye West is in Moscow! That's great news, he's in the heart of the capital," quoted the state news agency TASS producer Yana Rudkovskaya.

Former Russian presidential candidate Xenia Sobchak also posted a short video on Telegram, which she claims shows West looking out from the roof of the famous shopping center GUM from the Red Square. According to Sobchak, West is in Moscow to celebrate the 40th birthday of his friend Gosha Rubchinskiy, a well-known Russian fashion designer.

Approximately one hundred people gathered in front of the Four Seasons Hotel in the center of Moscow to catch a glimpse of West. "Everyone is waiting for Kanye West, and everyone hopes to get selfies or autographs," said the 18-year-old Alexander, for whom the rapper is a "legend."

West has expressed his admiration for Putin in the past. In his home country, West has become increasingly isolated in the entertainment industry due to antisemitic and pro-Hitler statements in recent years. The German sports apparel manufacturer Adidas and fashion companies like Gap and Balenciaga have ended their collaborations with the rapper.

Since the beginning of the offensive in Ukraine, there have been few performances by Western artists in Russia. Reports of West's visit to Russia have fueled rumors of a concert by the US rapper in Moscow. The Luzhniki Stadium, which is rumored to be the performance venue, stated through state media that it has no information on the matter.
