Stormzy - Rapper and Maya Jama have split up

Stormzy (30) and Maya Jama (29) were long considered one of the most popular couples in the British Entertainment Industry. After they reunited last year following a longer separation, their fans were thrilled. However, the rapper and the TV-presenter have now announced their final separation.

Stormzy and Maya Jama fell in love ten years ago

The two shared a joint statement in their Instagram Stories on a Wednesday. "Hey people, we have to laugh while we write this, because we never thought we'd be the pair that makes a public announcement about our separation", the statement reads. "But to bring clarity and give us both the space we need to navigate this new chapter, we think it's a good idea."

"We fell in love with each other in 2014, separated in 2019 and spent five years apart. In August 2023, we decided to give it another try. We spent the last year giving it our best shot, but unfortunately, we have recently decided to end it."

"We gave it a shot"

When they met at the age of 20 and 21, both were still at the beginning of their careers and had grown individually since then. "We gave it a shot, and it didn't work out, and that's okay." They still hold each other in high regard and are grateful for the time they spent together. Moreover, they plan to remain friends.

Stormzy is one of the most successful rappers in Britain. All three of his studio albums reached number one on the British Album Charts, he was nominated for the Brit Awards eight times and won three times, and in 2017 he received an MTV Europe Music Award as "Best Worldwide Act".

Maya Jama has been appearing on various British TV formats since 2014 and was active as a radio host until 2020. Since 2022, she has been hosting the British version of the dating show "Love Island" as well as the international spin-off "Love Island Games". After separating from Stormzy in 2019, Jama was rumored to be in a relationship with NBA player Ben Simmons (27) and was even reported to be engaged.

In their Instagram Stories, Stormzy and Maya Jama shared their decision for a final separation, citing the need for space to navigate their new chapter. Despite their separation, they remain grateful for the time they spent together and plan to remain friends.

The announcement of their final separation caused a stir, given their high-profile relationship in the British Entertainment Industry and their past reunion after a five-year separation.
