Processes - Rape accusation: US rapper Combs rejects allegations
US rapper and record producer Sean Combs (54) is facing another civil lawsuit for rape and abuse. An unnamed woman filed the lawsuit with a court in New York.
In it, she accuses Combs and two other men of raping her in the rapper's New York studio, among other things. She was put under the influence of alcohol and drugs. She was only 17 years old at the time in 2003.
Combs firmly rejected the allegations in a statement. "Enough is enough", the rapper wrote in a statement made available to Deutsche Presse-Agentur. "Disgusting allegations" had been made in recent weeks with the aim of obtaining money. These people were trying to destroy his reputation. He wanted to make it "absolutely clear" that he had not done any of these "terrible things". "I will fight for my name, my family and for the truth," he continued.
Three women had previously filed civil lawsuits against Combs alleging sexual assault, including his ex-girlfriend, singer Cassie. Combs quickly reached a settlement with Cassie in mid-November. The plaintiff had accused the musician of sexual abuse, rape, intimidation and physical violence, among other things, during their long-standing relationship. Details of the terms of the settlement were not disclosed.
Combs ("Bad Boy for Life", "I'll Be Missing You"), who is also a record producer, actor and businessman, is one of the most successful representatives of the hip-hop industry. At the MTV Video Music Awards in September, Combs was honored as a pioneer and for his influential career with the "Global Icon Award".
