- Ralf Schumacher and Étienne reveal their personal identities
Ralf Schumacher (49) has been making headlines lately following his public announcement about his sexual orientation a couple of months back. He recently sat down with RTL host Frauke Ludowig (60) and partner Étienne Bousquet-Cassagne for an interview on RTL's "Exclusiv Weekend." Schumacher expressed his contentment, stating he's "never felt happier."
Étienne spills: "It was his choice to come out"
Schumacher and Étienne share a lot of similarities, revealing they're both "quite reserved, pleasant, and have similar interests."
Étienne admits that Schumacher was the one who made the decision to come out. It was a "surprise" for him, and he admitted to feeling a bit "nervous" about it. Being thrust into the limelight as a result was also challenging for Étienne.
"I found it difficult since I'm not famous, I'm not a race car driver, actor, or singer," he confessed in the interview. "I wasn't prepared for the attention."
The big announcement in mid-July
Schumacher took to Instagram to announce his relationship with Étienne during the Euro Cup final, which garnered significant attention and predominantly positive reactions.
The following day, Schumacher shared another post on Instagram expressing his gratitude for the outpouring of support. "Thank you for all the kind messages and comments. We're incredibly happy and grateful," he wrote, including a photo of the two of them.
The weekend after his announcement, Étienne joined Schumacher at the Hungarian Grand Prix, where Schumacher was working as a Sky expert. That was the first time the couple made a public appearance together.
After the announcement on Instagram, Etienne confessed, "I was overwhelmed by the attention, I'm not accustomed to being in the spotlight like this." And following their public appearance at the Hungarian Grand Prix, Etienne expressed affectionately, "I love being by your side, Ralf. I love you."
