Michael Douglas - Queen Letizia honors him for his lifework

Michael Douglas has had a long-standing love for the Spanish island of Mallorca. The Oscar-winning actor frequently seeks relaxation and peace at his S'Estaca estate in Valldemossa. He was therefore delighted to receive the "Masters-of-Cinema" award for his lifetime achievement at the Atlantida Film Fest's closing gala on Sunday evening. The honor was bestowed upon him personally by Queen Letizia (51).

Michael Douglas Plans to Spend More Time on Mallorca

The award ceremony took place in the courtyard of the Misericòrdia Complex in Palma under mild Mallorcan weather. The queen looked like a Hollywood star herself in a tightly fitted metallic dress, which she paired with Riemchen sandals and a handbag adorned with sequins. She walked alongside Michael Douglas on the blue carpet. The actor chose a dark suit and a striped blue-white shirt for the occasion. He seemed to have a lot to tell the queen, as they chatted animatedly. After honoring him for his lifetime achievement, Queen Letizia applauded for the Hollywood star, who proudly held his award aloft.

Perhaps Douglas shared his future plans with the queen, in which Spain seems to play an important role. The star of film classics like "Falling Down - A Very Ordinary Day," "Wall Street," "Basic Instinct," and "The War of the Roses" turns 80 on September 25. An excellent reason to take a break. He wants to spend "six or seven months" on Mallorca now, according to "Mallorca-Zeitung" during a press conference before the award ceremony. He dreams of living "simpler" - apparently away from the glamour world of Los Angeles. He already celebrated his round birthday with many peers in his chosen homeland, as he recently showed in a short video on Instagram.
