Prince William steps in for King Charles's duties.
On the second day of the extravagant Royal Ascot event, hats continued to dazzle, much like the previous day, but the King's majestic presence was missing. Instead, Prince William stepped up to fill his father's shoes, standing proudly beside Queen Camilla in the traditional carriage.
Before the event, the British media had hinted that King Charles would not be attending the second day of Royal Ascot. While no official announcement was made about who would join Queen Camilla in the carriage procession, it wasn't hard to guess based on recent events.
Adorning a mandatory top hat and flashing a bright smile, Prince William sat comfortably next to his stepmother, Queen Camilla, who opted for a stunning royal blue ensemble, just as she did on the first day. The Earl and Countess of Halifax were fortunate to share the first carriage and the company of William and Camilla.
Though absent from Royal Ascot, King Charles had a busy schedule at Buckingham Palace, according to the British tabloid "Mirror". It was expected that he would return for the third day of Royal Ascot on June 20. Unfortunately, there were no hopes of seeing the ailing Princess Kate at any of the remaining three days, as reported by the newspaper.
Plane Bound, Football Ahead
Royal Ascot will run until June 22, famous for its vibrant and over-the-top hats, a necessity for women, while men don cylinders with frockcoats.
On this Thursday, Prince William will relinquish the carriage and take to the skies. He will be present at the England vs Denmark EM match in Frankfurt, competing in the football stadium. The Danish King Frederik is also expected to be in attendance to cheer on his team.
