Stylewatch - Prince William always wears: The watches of the British Royals
Regarding money matters, the British Royal Family is not lacking anything. The family could, if they wished, display their luxury more explicitly. However, unlike top athletes, tech billionaires, and influencers, the Royals often practice surprising restraint. This is also true when it comes to watches.
This became apparent during the European Championship, as Prince William was a frequent guest – and the focus was on his wrist. But what do the Royals actually wear in terms of watches? They certainly have good taste, but their relatively small collections are still a bit surprising.
Prince William is loyal to his Omega
William is the most loyal one-watch wearer. His mother Diana is said to have given him an Omega Seamaster Professional 300M with a quartz movement in his youth. This watch, which the heir to the throne wears exclusively, accompanies him on every occasion. Anyone who wants to own Williams watch doesn't even have to dig too deep into their pocket. Prices start at around 2000 Euro.
His brother, Prince Harry, wears a watch only occasionally. But when he does, it's a real eye-catcher. In addition to his Breitling Aerospace Avantage, which he received from the British Air Force as a pilot of a combat helicopter, the Prince is sometimes seen with a Rolex Explorer II with a white dial. Theoretically, one could buy this watch from him for approximately 10,000 Euro – but it lacks the special engraving that also comes from the Air Force.
Meghan Markle, his wife, seems to have a taste for Cartier. This is reminiscent of Princess Diana. Meghan wears a Cartier Tank Française. She is said to own two: One watch, a gold model, is said to have come from Diana's estate. Another bicolor model, also known as a stainless steel-gold mix, she is said to have bought during her time as the main actress in the successful series "Suits". On the watch case base, reports say, is "To MM, from MM" engraved.
Cartier, the traditional French brand, is often found in the Royal Family. Diana wore watches from the brand, as did the King occasionally and his wife. Camilla, when she wears jewelry from her favorite brand Van Cleef & Arpels instead of a watch, wears a Cartier Tank. In gold, on a leather strap.
When it comes to the model of the watch, Kate is an outlier. She also wears Cartier, but she chose a Ballon Bleu in stainless steel – provided she had a say in the matter. The watch is said to be a gift from William for their third wedding anniversary.
King Charles III is a watch enthusiast
The greatest variation in choosing a watch is with King Charles III – as a prince, he wore various brands and models. He probably inherited this from his mother. Queen Elizabeth II owned not only Patek Philippe watches but also other unusual pieces, such as the Jaeger-LeCoultre Caliber 101, which she wore for her coronation.
The King often chooses a brand that is less common. He is often seen with a Parmigiani Fleurier Toric Chronograph on his arm. Not because this watch is particularly expensive, but rather because Charles appreciates the craftsmanship of small manufactures and does not place great value on big names.
