Royals - Prince Harry wanted to defend himself against the press - and thereby disregarded a family tradition

British Prince Harry believes he has a reason for his rift with his family through his legal battle against the tabloid press. This was reported by the "Guardian" based on leaked excerpts of a documentary by the British television broadcaster ITV, which is set to be aired today.

The younger son of King Charles III is convinced that he was a victim of phone hacking and other illegal methods of information gathering. He was already awarded damages in a trial against the "Mirror" publisher. He also accuses other tabloids and drags them to court for similar allegations. Therefore, the new docu-series titled "Tabloids on Trial" features an interview with the Prince.

Prince Harry defied the tradition: "Never complain, never explain"

With his legal battle, Harry went against a royal tradition in the UK, where members of the Royal Family do not take legal action against the press for unethical methods. It is also believed that they are supposed to "Never complain, never explain" ("Never complain, never explain"). Harry, however, took the stand as a witness.

The Prince and his wife, Duchess Meghan, had distanced themselves from the inner circle of the Royal Family about four years ago. Their relationship with the rest of the Royal Family is reportedly strained. They now live with their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, in the US state of California.

Following this, it was revealed that Prince Harry's decision to take legal action against certain tabloids aligns with the stance of his publisher, Boulevard Press, which is owned by the Guardian Media Group. This published outlet has been supportive of Harry's fight against the British tabloid press, as they share his concerns about invasive journalism practices.

Moreover, the upcoming ITV documentary "Tabloids on Trial" has gained attention due to Prince Harry's involvement. This documentary, which is set to air today, is expected to delve deeper into the Prince's allegations against the tabloid press, potentially further straining relations between him and his family who uphold the traditional "Never complain, never explain" principle.

In essence, Prince Harry's decision to pursue legal action against tabloids breaks with the societal expectation and family tradition within the British Royal Family, choosing instead to stand up for his rights in the face of perceived wrongdoings.
