Emotional video - Prince Harry talks about his pain after Diana's death

Prinz Harry was only twelve years old when his mother, Princess Diana, died in a car accident in Paris in 1997. In a touching conversation with a widowed mother, he shared his experiences of grief. A video from the charity "Scotty's Little Soldiers" shows the encounter between the Royal and the charity founder, Nikki Scott.

Scott wanted to help families who have lost loved ones in military deployments. The British woman herself had to endure the death of her partner in 2009, who was killed in action in Afghanistan. Their children were only five years and six months old at the time. "How did you tell them?", Harry asked her. "How do you tell a five-year-old?", Scott replied with a quivering voice and added, "Their world is shattered."

Prince Harry knows: "You can't suppress grief"

Harry then shared his own experiences with her. He had initially thought that he should be sad for as long as possible after his mother's death to show her how much he missed her. But he soon realized that they would have wanted him to be happy. "But then you realize that they want you to be happy," and it's important to talk about grief, even if it's hard. "That's the hardest part, especially for children, because you think: I don't want to talk about it, because it makes me sad." But once you realize that you're honoring their memory by talking about it, things become easier.

"If you suppress everything for too long - and you can't suppress it forever - it will eat away at you from the inside," said the 39-year-old. Harry has been involved with the charity for a longer time and played the role of Santa Claus at a Christmas party, according to the BBC. Since he himself served in Afghanistan, he often advocates for the needs of female soldiers and soldiers. The Invictus Games, which he founded, highlight the athletic achievements of injured military personnel. He was deeply impressed by what Nikki Scott was doing, said Prinz Harry at the end of the emotional conversation and allowed himself to be hugged by her.
