Carlo von Tiedemann - Presenter returns after illness
Five months after his health-related absence, broadcasting legend Carlo von Tiedemann (80) is finally back at the microphone. For the first time, the NDR icon will be heard again on radio station NDR Schlager on Saturday, June 29, from 10 to 12 pm, in his show "Carlo knows them all".
At the beginning of the year, the moderator had to go to the hospital due to a bacterial infection in his heart arteries. In the hospital, he also broke a lumbar vertebra and caught pneumonia, he explained in the "Bild" newspaper. According to his own statement, von Tiedemann "just barely managed to escape death again".
Hospital stay and nursing home
After an eight-week hospital stay, von Tiedemann was then transferred for four weeks to a rehabilitation facility. Since then, the 80-year-old has been back at home. "I'm happy, I'm healthy, things are looking up," he said.
The joy of his radio return seems to already be evident for von Tiedemann. "The happiest Schlager grandpa ever," as the 80-year-old describes himself in a press release, is currently focusing his energies on moderating at NDR Schlager. "I have an indescribable love for radio. Someone who has been doing it for 53 years can't have anything else. I've learned nothing else," so von Tiedemann with his familiar wit and charm.
In his press release, Carlo von Tiedemann, known for his iconic role at NDR Schlager, expressed his excitement about returning to the radio after a prolonged absence. Upon his release from the hospital and a rehabilitation facility, the Schlager grandpa shared his gratitude, stating, "I'm happy, I'm healthy, things are looking up."
