Potentially, another season of Ted Lasso might materialize.

It appears that the popular series "Ted Lasso" on Apple TV+ might be getting another season, with signs of a potential fourth installment. According to Deadline, discussions are ongoing to extend the series, and it seems that key actors Hannah Waddingham, Brett Goldstein, and Jeremy Swift have already been secured for a return.

Waddingham portrays Rebecca Welton, the owner of the football club, who initially opposes Lasso, while Swift plays her timid sports director, Leslie Higgins. Goldstein transitions from his initial role as the grumpy, aging professional Roy Kent, to becoming the beloved grumpy trainer.

As for Jason Sudeikis, who plays the title character, the report suggests that he's highly likely to continue as the series' main producer. However, his return in a leading role is not yet confirmed.

The fact that Waddingham, Goldstein, and Swift are reportedly the first names on the cast list for season four, has practical reasons. Deadline reveals that these actors are part of a British actors' union, which means negotiations with them should be straightforward.

A 'small door' is reopening

Even though the third season provided a satisfying conclusion, according to Channing Dungey, the chief of Warner Bros. TV, there's still a 'small door' that could potentially be opened for more episodes. Dungey, speaking to Variety at the time, stated, "You've seen the finale. There's a small door that could be pushed open if needed." She further added, "I wouldn't put a full stop at the end of that sentence yet. The love for 'Ted Lasso' is still strong. And I think Apple's enthusiasm for 'Ted Lasso' is still strong. If the opportunity arises, we'd love to come back and do more."

In essence, 'Ted Lasso' is an American football coach who takes charge of a (fictional) English Premier League club. Along his journey, he faces numerous challenges and has to learn the rules of football. However, his unorthodox methods eventually touch remarkable success for AFC Richmond.

The ongoing discussions about extending "Ted Lasso" could potentially see Hannah Waddingham, Brett Goldstein, and Jeremy Swift returning to their beloved roles on the small screen, as they are reportedly the first names on the cast list for season four. With a 'small door' still open for more episodes, according to Channing Dungey, the series might continue to captivate audiences on Apple TV+ through their television sets.
