Pondering another reason to reconsider your Netflix commitment
Netflix, once known for its high-quality content, has been underperforming in the entertainment department recently. Many of their original productions, like "The Union" starring Halle Berry and Mark Wahlberg, resemble the low-budget movies of the past that skipped theaters and went straight to video stores.
“The Union” is just another example of Netflix's missteps in the entertainment industry. They seem to be picking up big names like Ryan Gosling, Chris Evans, or Gal Gadot, and then producing mediocre spy stories around them. The result? Films like "The Gray Man", "Heart of Stone", and "The Union".
Mark Wahlberg and Halle Berry may be popular actors, but they don't make a great agent duo any more than the unrefined script or the flat action scenes. If there are calls for a sequel, all we can say is, "Please, no!".
For a detailed review of "The Union", you can check out Ronny Rüsch and Axel Max's analysis in the new episode of the ntv podcast "Oscars & Himbeeren". They also discuss the film drama "The Iron Claw", the thriller "The Awakening of the Huntress", and the abandoned first DC cinematic universe.
NetFlix's reliance on streaming for its content distribution might be leading to its creative downfall. Despite bringing in big names like Ryan Gosling, Chris Evans, and Gal Gadot, the streaming service seems to struggle with delivering engaging and high-quality stories, resulting in underperforming original productions.
