North Frisian suspense story - Police Search for Thieves Who Stolen 87 Sheep from Grazing Fields

A group of thieves has been making headlines in a police station in Hattstedt, North Frisia, Schleswig-Holstein after stealing no less than 87 sheep from a meadow in the past week.

In a recent statement from the Flensburg Police Directorate, it was revealed that the sheep herder realized the sheep were missing during his daily checks on the previous Friday around 4 pm. The fences and gates on the inner dike of Beltringharder Koog were intact, therefore, thievery was suspected. The assumption is that the perpetrators were in the area for an extended period, needing multiple vehicles to transport the animals. As of now, no traces of the stolen sheep or the thieves have been found.

The sheep can be identified by blue and green numbers on their right sides. These sheep are three- to four-year-old Suffolk-Texel, a breed known for their high reproductive rate and good meat quality.

To find the missing animals and catch the crooks, the police are now requesting anyone who made any suspicious observations at Beltringharder Koog on Thursday or Friday to come forward.

A similar incident occurred just a month ago in Hesse when around 50 sheep were stolen from a meadow during the night on May 1st. The police believed the transportation of the sheep was "probably done with one or more large vehicles and would have taken some time."
