Nicolas Cage's Son, Weston Coppola Cage, Arrested in Los Angeles for Allegedly Attacking Mother
Weston Coppola Cage, the son of US actor Nicolas Cage, was reportedly arrested in Los Angeles. This was reported by various US media, citing the local police. "I can confirm that Weston Cage Coppola was arrested today for assault with a deadly weapon," a spokesperson for the Los Angeles Police Department told "The Sun."
The arrest reportedly stems from an incident that occurred in April. According to "The Sun," there is a connection to a psychological crisis that the actor is said to have experienced a few weeks prior, during which he allegedly became violent towards his mother, Christina Fulton. Images of the actress emerged at the time, showing her with a blue eye and facial injuries. TMZ reported that Weston is now on the "radar of the LAPD."
Statement from Christina Fulton
In early May, Fulton released a statement to People magazine, which quoted her as saying: "On Sunday, April 28, several of Weston's closest friends reached out to me for help because they were concerned about his mental health." She further explained: "Upon my arrival, I was greeted by my son, who was obviously in a mental breakdown, which in turn made for a harrowing experience." Fulton stressed that she and her son had not had an argument prior to the incident.
An attorney for the 57-year-old told Page Six that his client had fully cooperated with the investigation. He added: "This is a criminal matter, and my client is merely a victim and a witness."
Weston has since been released on bail in the amount of $150,000. According to The Sun, this bail was reportedly paid by Nicolas Cage. Weston is the eldest child of the Hollywood star. Cage has another son, 18-year-old Kal-El Cage, and a daughter, August Francesca Coppola Cage, who was born in September 2022.
The LA Police Department's spokesperson mentioned that the alleged weapon used in Weston's assault was a part of his entertainment prop collection. Despite the arrest, Nicolas Cage's attorney stressed that Weston was merely a victim and a witness in this Hollywood-related violent incident.
