Poland's president appoints four new ministers from Tusk's administration.
Polish President Andrzej Duda has inducted four new ministers into Donald Tusk's cabinet. "We're making some changes in significant positions today," said Duda during the swearing-in ceremony at Warsaw's presidential palace.
The motivation behind this cabinet shuffle is that four incumbent ministers are contesting in the European Parliament elections on June 9. But it's also aimed at injecting fresh vigor into Tusk's administration, which has been in power since December.
Succeeding outgoing Culture Minister Bartlomiej Sienkiewicz is Hanna Wroblewska, who has been the director of the Zacheta National Art Gallery in Warsaw for a long time. Marcin Kierwinski, previously the Minister of the Interior, will now be replaced by Tomasz Simoniak, a former secret service coordinator. Simoniak will hold both posts simultaneously. Jakub Jaworowski has replaced Borys Budka as the new Minister for State Participations.
Unlike these three portfolios, which are controlled by Tusk's Civic Coalition, the Ministry of Development and Technology stands apart. Krzysztof Hetman, who's been holding it previously, is from the Christian-conservative Third Way party. He'll be succeeded by Krzysztof Paszyk, the former leader of his party's parliamentary group.

The new ministers, appointed by President Duda, are expected to bring a fresh perspective to Tusk's government, having served under him in previous roles. Despite the change in office, the Minister of Development and Technology will continue to be a figure from the Christian-conservative Third Way party. Some ministers from Tusk's administration are temporarily stepping aside to focus on their campaigns for the European Parliament elections.
