Planned Visits to North Korea and Vietnam by Vladimir Putin
Russian President Vladimir Putin's long-awaited visits to North Korea and Vietnam are nearing, with Vice Foreign Minister Andrey Rudenko confirming in Moscow on Thursday that the tours are currently in the final stages of preparation at a Russia-China conference. Rudenko didn't provide a specific timeline, and there were initial doubts about Putin visiting Vietnam in June. When asked how far the planning had advanced, he replied, "at an advanced stage."
Previous comments from Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov indicated that Putin's travels to North Korea and Vietnam were indeed planned. Last September, Kim Jong-un extended an invitation to Putin to visit North Korea during his trip to Russia. During their meeting, both leaders expressed their desire for deeper collaboration in the military-technical arena. The United States has alleged that North Korea has been aiding Putin in his fight against Ukraine with weapons and ammunition. Kim seemed confident in Russia's victory during their previous encounter, calling it a struggle against imperialism.
