Pink has to cancel concert
In the past few weeks, concert cancellations have been piling up. More and more artists, such as singer Pink, are reportedly ill. It remains unclear whether it's the summer flu or something more serious. Singer Pink has now canceled her performance today in Bern, Switzerland.
One day before the concert, US pop singer Pink announced on Instagram that she had canceled her planned tour performance in Bern for today. "After consulting with my doctor and weighing all possibilities, I was advised not to play the upcoming show," the 44-year-old wrote on Tuesday evening. She also posted a black-and-white photo of herself on stage. It's unclear what's wrong with Pink. She apologized to her fans: "I'm disappointed that we have to cancel."
On her "Summer Carnival" tour, Pink is also scheduled to perform multiple times in Germany. In July, stadium concerts in Leipzig (17.7.), Stuttgart (19.7.), and Mönchengladbach (21.7.) are planned. After her concert in Switzerland, the next stops were supposed to be Copenhagen (6.7) and Amsterdam (10.7 and 11.7).
Pearl Jam Concerts Canceled
Pink isn't the only artist who has canceled a concert. On June 30, Pearl Jam announced that they had to cancel their concerts at the Waldbühne in Berlin on July 2 and 3. A performance in London the day before had already been canceled due to the illness of a band member.
"Despite all our efforts, the band still hasn't fully recovered," the musicians around frontman Eddie Vedder announced on their Instagram account. No replacement concerts have been scheduled for the only Germany dates of the "Dark Matter" world tour. Ticket costs will be refunded.
Lena Meyer-Landrut and Kim Petras Also Ill
Lena Meyer-Landrut was also unable to play concerts recently due to health reasons. Her performances on June 29 and 30 in Bavaria had to be canceled at short notice, as the ESC winner from 2010 had to check into a hospital in Munich before the show due to severe pain. A concert in Hadamar on July 1 was canceled earlier in the week, with "production technical reasons" given on the organizer's website. Tickets could be exchanged for concerts by Dieter Bohlen and Silbermond or Ben Zucker, or returned.
Kim Petras had planned to perform at four festivals in Barcelona, London, Porto, and Seattle this summer. However, all her concerts in May, June, and July were canceled without replacement. "I had to make the difficult decision, not to perform at festivals this summer on doctor's advice," the German singer and Grammy winner announced at the end of April in an Instagram story. She did not provide further explanation.
Neil Young Concerns Fans
Neil Young has also put his fans on edge, as the Canadian singer-songwriter icon has canceled his entire tour with Crazy Horse due to health issues. In May, concerts in Chicago, Austin, and Dallas were postponed.
Recently, Young announced that the last ten dates of the "Love Earth" tour, which would have taken him to Canada and the USA, also had to be canceled. "We are still not fully recovered, so our big tour will unfortunately have to take a big unscheduled break," it says on Young's website. The dates are supposed to be rescheduled in an unknown time frame.
Another cancellation had to be endured by the German fans of Jason Derulo. The "Savage Love" interpreter was supposed to present his hits in Saarbrucken in mid-July - but in June, the date was shifted to July 2025. The tickets remain valid, according to the organizer, "due to scheduling reasons."
Amidst the series of concert cancellations, German singer Lena Meyer-Landrut was forced to cancel her concerts due to health reasons as well. She had to check into a hospital before a performance due to severe pain, and additional shows were subsequently canceled.
Pop music enthusiasts were also disappointed when US band Pearl Jam announced the cancellation of their concert at Waldbühne in Berlin, following the illness of a band member. Despite all efforts, the musicians around frontman Eddie Vedder were still not fully recovered, and no replacement concerts have been scheduled.
