Television - Pforzheimer Mayor's Office Chief goes undercover

Blonde Hair, False Teeth and Mustache - disguised, Pforzheim's Mayor Peter Boch (CDU) mingles among the citizens of his city for a special episode of RTL-Show "Undercover Boss" and listens to their problems and concerns. He presents himself as TV candidate Timo for the show "Die Stadtentdecker – Pforzheim nahe" (The City Discoverers – Pforzheim up close). The special episode of "Undercover Boss" will be aired on July 15 at 8:15 pm.

Working at Fire Department and Kindergarten

Boch meets many people who are daily serving the city, speaks on site with citizens and women, checks projects and helps here and there actively. He is in a kindergarten during lunch and homework supervision and with the rescue service of the Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund (ASB). He talks to the members of the professional fire department and learns about their daily life. He sneaks into the technical services of the city, repairs playground equipment and searches for abandoned trash cans with the "Waste Watchers," a type of Pforzheim's Garbage Police.

Gained many insights

"I have gained a lot for my work from the undercover operation," says the 44-year-old. Many concerns were presented to him. City employees, as well as affected citizens and women, reported to him about vandalism on playgrounds and illegal waste disposal. They also told him what needed to be done in the city for people to feel safe. Wearing a vest and functional clothing, Boch took on a lot, climbed up high ladders into an Affenzahn (monkey's head, a type of fire truck), and rode in emergency vehicles - he would have liked to stay undercover in the city for even longer.

Was the town hall chief recognized during filming?

Technically, Boch is quite well-known in Pforzheim - not everyone falls for Boch's disguise. Or they find that he looks damn similar to the mayor. His work as the supposed TV candidate Timo does not take a break during his days of undercover work. As for his disguise: His specially made tooth cap for the Undercover episode is still with him, as he recently wrote on Instagram.

  1. Despite his disguise as TV candidate Timo, some people in Pforzheim noticed the similarity between Boch and the town hall chief, recognizing him due to his well-known status in the city.
  2. During his time working at the Fire Department, Boch climbed high ladders into an Affenzahn and rode in emergency vehicles, gaining a newfound appreciation for the challenges faced by the professional firefighters in Pforzheim, a commune in Baden-Württemberg, Germany.
  3. To gather more insights and understand the daily struggles of the city's inhabitants, Boch spent time at a kindergarten, helping during lunch and homework supervision and speaking with the city employees and women who work there.
  4. The special episode of RTL-Show "Undercover Boss," featuring Boch as TV candidate Timo, will air on July 15th at 8:15 pm, providing viewers with a chance to learn about the problems and concerns of the citizens of Pforzheim from the perspective of their mayor.
  5. As part of his undercover operation, Boch donned a vest and functional clothing and even learned about the daily life of the waste management team, known as the "Waste Watchers," who work tirelessly to keep the city clean and free of abandoned trash cans.
  6. Some residents of the commune took the opportunity to voice their concerns about vandalism on playgrounds and illegal waste disposal to Boch, hoping that his newfound understanding of the community's needs would lead to positive changes in Pforzheim.
