Pastewka injures himself while filming new series

Anke Engelke and Bastian Pastewka have proven for years in various formats that comedic chemistry works. The comedy duo is now starting with their first joint series. However, filming ran smoothly without any issues.

Actor Bastian Pastewka injured himself during the shooting of his new series with Anke Engelke. "In the sixth episode, you'll see me stumbling over a drum set and in real life, it ended up bloody," the 52-year-old said at the premiere of the series "Perfekt verpasst" at the Film Festival Munich. He fell onto a sofa with a metal piece protruding from it and injured himself in the abdomen. Fortunately, it was a minor injury.

Pastewka appeared before the camera for the series, which will be available from August 15 on the streaming service Prime Video, alongside his long-time colleague and good friend Engelke. The idea for the series, which originated during the first Corona lockdown, was born in this stupid time," Engelke said after the premiere. "We gathered together in this idiotic time" and thought about shared plans. It could have been another project, she said; a book for example. But it became a series.

Engelke and Pastewka play the singles Maria and Ralf from Marburg in the series, who could make a good couple - but keep missing each other. She has a bookstore in the small town, he a sports shop, and they even have mutual acquaintances. Yet they seem to cross paths nowhere. Engelke had never been to Marburg before, she said. The decision to go there was also due to the "picturesque background." In addition, people in Marburg are excited about filming - unlike in cities like Cologne or Berlin - even if the streets are blocked. A part of the series was also shot in Cologne.

Engelke and Pastewka are considered among the best in German comedy by many fans. They have known each other for 27 years, according to their own statements. And in this time, they have often appeared together: for example, in the legendary "Wochenshow" sketches, in shows like Wolfgang and Anneliese, or as joke manipulators in the Prime Video format "LOL: Last One Laughing" - and this summer then also in their own series.

Anke Engelke and Bastian Pastewka, renowned for their comedic prowess, will showcase their talents once again in their new TV series. Despite Pastewka's accidental injury during filming, viewers can anticipate seeing him in action alongside Engelke when the series "Perfekt verpasst" debuts on Prime Video in August.
