- Pamela Reif: "People reduce me to my body"
Germany's most famous fitness influencer, Pamela Reif, speaks openly and unusually bluntly in a big interview with the stern about her business model, beauty pressure in the industry, prejudices against influencers - and why she prefers not to express political opinions.
Pamela Reif on Feminism
"People reduce me to my body because it is what it is. But I don't have a problem with that," says Reif: "If you want to see it as a product, I'd say I've created a good one." While she is often underestimated due to her appearance and profession, it's not because she's a woman. When it comes to the fight for feminism, Reif is particularly combative: "If you ask me if I'm for equality, I say yes. But: I'm a strong woman and I still need men." For women who feel ugly compared to her, Reif has a message: "They should work on their mental state. That's not my responsibility."
Influencer criticizes social media
In the interview with the stern, the 28-year-old also complains about how oversensitive social media has become: "You can hardly express an opinion without offending some minority." She herself ventured into politics once and has since refrained from doing so. She also struggles with people who just complain: "Sometimes I have trouble empathizing with them." Her secret to success is different: "I don't look for excuses not to do something, I find ways to do it anyway. I'm not many things. I haven't learned anything from what I do. But I still find ways to be very good at it."
