Pamela Anderson came "topless"
The British Fashion Awards are presented in rainy London on Monday evening. Among the award winners is Sam Smith, who appears in a miniskirt. Amal Clooney makes a brilliant entrance. And Pamela Anderson remains true to her decision to stop wearing make-up.
Almost like an apparition, actress Pamela Anderson stayed true to her personal no-make-up trend at the British Fashion Awards 2023 fashion event at the Royal Albert Hall in London on Monday evening. The Canadian wore a chic cream-colored suit by Stella McCartney. In an oversized wool blazer, which she draped loosely over her shoulders, and white wide-leg trousers, she attracted the attention of photographers. Underneath, Anderson wore a used-look T-shirt and topped off her outfit with a pair of strappy black heels.
Recently, the 56-year-old revealed the surprising reason why she finds it so liberating to go to red carpet events without make-up. Anderson told the Daily Telegraph that the success of her own makeover show, Pamela's Garden of Eden, made her want to show her true colors to her fans.
"Felt so free"
"When I went to Paris Fashion Week, I decided not to wear make-up and I really felt like the five-year-old girl from 'Ladysmith' who got to wear Victoria Beckham's clothes," said the former "Baywatch" star. She was surprised when she heard that she was making a "statement", which was never her intention. "I felt so free. It wasn't meant to be a statement, it's not about world peace, and I didn't know if anyone would notice. I'm not sitting in a make-up chair for three hours anymore." She looked in the mirror and said to herself: "You're almost 60, that's good enough, just enjoy Paris and don't play the game," she added.
Also in attendance in rainy London was Amal Clooney, who was the epitome of elegance in her floor-length, shimmering gold gown. The gown worn by the 45-year-old lawyer, who has been married to George Clooney since 2014, was adorned with sequins that got bigger and bigger down to the train. The sleeveless, off-the-shoulder gown glittered in the flurry of flashbulbs from the photographers. The British-Lebanese lawyer teamed it with gold flats, a gold clutch and glittering silver earrings.
Award winner Sam Smith wore a mini
One of the winners of the awards was musician Sam Smith. The 31-year-old was honored with the "Cultural Innovator" award for viral fashion moments. He walked the red carpet in a dramatic outfit: a tight black mini skirt and high-heeled platform boots by Vivienne Westwood made him one of the eye-catchers.
But it got even better, as "Mail Online", among others, shows: Accepting the award, which was presented by actress Lena Dunham, the Brit wore a voluminous black taffeta dress with puffed shoulders. The eye-catching dress had a long train with ruffles and cape-style sleeves. The artist paired it with two multi-layered necklaces.
Smith is a "cultural innovator"
Caroline Rush, Chief Executive of the British Fashion Council, said of the award: "Sam Smith is a true cultural innovator who has fearlessly pushed the boundaries of fashion and entertainment. Smith's unapologetic and ground-breaking style choices have dominated the industry in 2023 and we are incredibly grateful for the continued support of British designers."
Anderson, Clooney and Smith were joined by a host of other stars at the annual charity event. Make-up artist and entrepreneur Charlotte Tilbury was presented with a Special Recognition Award, and 85-year-old Giancarlo Giammetti accepted the Outstanding Achievement Award on behalf of his friend and business partner Valentino Garavani from Gwyneth Paltrow.
