Oslo-located Tons of Rock unveils initial musical acts
In the summer of 2025, the Norwegian rock and metal festival Tons of Rock will mark its eleventh anniversary with a grand celebration. The initial performers for this event, scheduled from June 25 to 28, have been disclosed, coinciding with the commencement of ticket sales.
Leading the pack is the iconic American punk-rock band Green Day, renowned for setting the trend since the 90s. They are set to take the stage on June 26, ready to belt out crowd favorites such as "Basket Case" and "American Idiot".
Joining this lineup are Jinjer, a metalcore ensemble hailing from Ukraine with frontwoman Tatiana Shmailyuk, along with American deathcore group Lorna Shore from New Jersey. Alestorm, representing Scotland, and Kim Dracula from Australia, will also contribute to the eclectic mix. From Norway's black metal scene, Emperor and Old Man's Child will perform, complemented by punk rock band The Good, The Bad & The Zugly. Representing Germany are Powerwolf, a power metallers from Saarbrücken, who topped the German album charts this year with their album "Wake Up The Wicked", and the social media sensation Electric Callboy.
Green Day finally tickles the audience's fancy
Jarle Kvale, the booking manager, is elated about the first wave of performers: "We couldn't be more elated to announce this wild and mammoth first wave of bands for Tons of Rock 2025. Green Day has been a dream booking that has been high on our audience's wishlist for years."
Tons of Rock has grown to be one of the premier locations for rock and metal enthusiasts in recent times. Originally based in Halden, the southeastern Norwegian town, the festival moved to Oslo in 2019 in a bid to expand. Since then, it has played host to global stars like Iron Maiden, Kiss, Guns N' Roses, and Metallica. In 2024, acts included Judas Priest, Metallica, Tool, ZZ Top, Extreme, Turnstile, and Parkway Drive.
