Oprah Winfrey suffers an unappealing illness.

Oprah Winfrey, a well-known TV personality, seems to be battling some health issues as reported by her colleague Gayle King. Gayle revealed on "CBS Mornings" that Oprah was hospitalized due to a severe stomach bug.

The 70-year-old Oprah was supposed to present her newest book club selection on the show, but she had to be admitted to the hospital instead. She experienced diarrhea and vomiting, according to Gayle.

Gayle updated the audience about Oprah's condition, mentioning, "She has something with her stomach - a stomach flu - it came from both ends." Oprah is currently receiving intravenous fluids because of dehydration. Gayle then said, "It's a very serious matter. She needs to recover."

Gayle and Oprah are close friends; they have even worked together in the past. The book "Familiaris" by David Wroblewski was scheduled to be presented during the show without Oprah. Earlier, Oprah had shared her thoughts on the book on Instagram.

Speaker: Oprah's Spokesperson Confirms Her Illness

Later, a spokesperson for the moderator confirmed Gayle's words to the American publication "People" and added some more information. The spokesperson stated that Oprah is undergoing treatment and is recovering from the stomach bug. She has received infusion therapy to combat dehydration. "She's resting and feeling better day by day," the spokesperson said.

Oprah is famous for her talk show "The Oprah Winfrey Show." After starting as a news anchor, she switched to WLS-TV in Chicago in 1983 and became the host of the morning talk show "AM Chicago." The show gained immense popularity, leading to its rebranding as "The Oprah Winfrey Show." This show was aired across multiple stations before simply becoming known as "Oprah."

Oprah discusses entertainment as well as serious issues like poverty, drug addiction, and child sexual abuse in her show. In the 1990s, she launched "Oprah's Book Club," where writers present their books. A feature on her show boosted an author's book sales significantly.
