Oprah Winfrey recovers at home following a trip to the hospital due to a stomach illness.

"Ms. Winfrey is recuperating after experiencing a nasty stomach bug, and her doctor advised her to receive intravenous fluids due to serious dehydration," a spokesperson for Winfrey said to CNN on Tuesday. "She's feeling better each day and is taking it easy for now."

During a video call with her close friend Gayle King - who's also a journalist - shared on King's Instagram, Winfrey recalled struggling to keep water down, which led to her hospitalization.

When King noticed Winfrey looked weaker than usual, Winfrey remarked that she's not at her best health just yet.

Yet, Winfrey remained optimistic: "I'm on the mend."

The media mogul mentioned that several people in her household had the same infection and urged everyone to be vigilant when it comes to cleanliness.

As a result, Winfrey couldn't make it to the taping of "CBS Mornings," where she would have revealed her latest Oprah's Book Club selection during a chat with Gayle King and the author.

Winfrey's chosen book is the critically acclaimed "Familiaris" by David Wroblewski.
