Eurovision Song Contest 2024 - Olly Alexander fights for Great Britain
After "Friesenjung" Joost Klein (26) for the Netherlands, further artists have now been announced for the upcoming edition of the Eurovision Song Contest. Olly Alexander (33), also known as Years & Years, will be competing for Great Britain in Malmö in 2024.
The Brit enjoyed great success in 2015, particularly with his songs "King" and "Shine". Years & Years was founded in 2010, initially as a band. In 2021, Years & Years became a solo project by Olly Alexander. Now, however, he no longer wants to perform under that name. "I've wanted to do this for a long time and it feels like the right time to release music under my own name," he is quoted as saying in a press release. For him, the ESC is a "wonderfully chaotic mix of musical styles, theatrical performances, heartfelt emotions and humor".
These artists have also already been confirmed
In addition to Olly Alexander and Joost Klein, six other musicians have already been confirmed to perform on stage at ESC 2024. Singer Raiven (27) will perform for Slovenia, musician Aiko (23) will sing for the Czech Republic next year, Mustii (33) will perform for Belgium and Silia Kapsis (17) will compete for Cyprus. Singer Slimane (34) has been chosen for France and Marina Satti (36) will sing for Greece.
Germany has not yet named an act for the ESC. This will only be determined at the preliminary round"Eurovision Song Contest - The German Final 2024", which will take place in Berlin on February 16.
