Oliver & Amira Pocher: Jauch is lost for words

Jauch throws in the towel in the face of so much passive-aggressiveness. "What causes marriages to fail today. Madness", he comments on what is probably Amira and Oliver Pocher's last appearance as a couple. He in particular knows no stopping - until the bitter end for them.

Amira and Oliver Pocher together on Günther Jauch? In the end, it was worse than expected. "This is probably their last appearance together on a TV show," RTL had speculated before the "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?" celebrity special on Thursday evening. The show was recorded in mid-October. "When the two were still on friendly terms," it said in the announcement. In reality, however, there was so much animosity swirling through the studio that Jauch constantly spoke words of power: "Guys. Now I have to do some mediation here."

It was of little use. In retrospect, Amira Pocher probably regretted bringing her still-husband along. RTL had actually invited her solo. "Never. I wouldn't dare," she said, but declined and took the comedian with her. "But is he still any help in this state?" Jauch was skeptical from the start. "That was put very sympathetically," said Pocher, setting the tone for his appearance.

Amira & Oliver Pocher with Jauch

It only took a few rounds before Jauch felt compelled to intervene to calm things down. "De-escalate", he confidently urged the separated couple. As the guest of first choice, Amira Pocher claimed the right to decide for herself. This paid off when, against her still-husband's wishes, she logged in the spelling "Pompons" instead of "Ponpons".

In the next round, however, Jauch saved her from an early elimination by urging her to use the audience joker. "The things that cause marriages to fail today. Madness," he noted when the Pochers bickered over the plural form of "cactus". "Visually, she's got nothing to criticize," Oliver Pocher threw out another verbal side blow. In the background, cabaret artist Torsten Sträter finally slumped over in shame. Jauch was also getting a bit fed up. Finally, the special edition was played for children in need.

"Guys," the "Who wants to be a millionaire?" host tried to put his foot down again. Now he had to mediate here, he scolded. "Me, of all people. I'm as suitable for this as a hedgehog for wiping ass," Jauch passed on a popular saying from his father to the audience. But it didn't get any better.

"Everything is currently sorted out financially," Oliver Pocher reassured the host, shortly before the additional joker helped him to discover that the Monobloc was a plastic chair worth 64,000 euros. In the next round, the comedian was finally able to shine with his knowledge. "For whom was the 2014 World Cup final not the last game in the German national soccer team jersey?" asked Jauch. Pocher knew immediately that Bastian Schweinsteiger was meant - and found the next template right away.

"He's still happily together with Ana Ivanović. It's going well with them," said Oliver Pocher. Jauch only exchanged a meaningful glance with Amira Pocher. "Is that a sufficient basis of trust?", he asked her and specified: "In the question, I mean."

Jauch implores Pochers: Stop it

"Stop it here," Jauch refused to give in. At this point, all that came from Sträter was an annoyed "bullshit" from the background, after he had tried to calm his nerves with a bar of chocolate.

Pocher then offered a possible explanation as to why he acted the way he did on his third "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?" appearance: "Humor is so important. You can look like a poop bucket." "Back to the topic," pleaded Jauch. In the end, however, Oliver Pocher had the last word in this presumably final appearance as a couple - which visibly infuriated Amira Pocher.

Contrary to expectations, the bickering couple came to the 500,000 euro question. Jauch wanted to know: "Which was the first alien planet on which a man-made probe successfully landed? A) Venus, B) Mercury, C) Mars, D) Moon?" Telephone joker Ibrahim Aly immediately tended towards Venus instead of the moon. "It's your brother," said Oliver Pocher, initially passing the decision on to Amira. She wanted to gamble.

But somehow the men in the round had had enough. Sträter demanded an end from behind, Oliver Pocher agreed and Jauch sealed the exit with 125,000 euros. Amira Pocher felt finally snubbed when it turned out: Her brother had been right. At least the RTL telethon benefited from the appearance of the couple, who are now open enemies.

They were the winners of the 45th celebrity special of "Who wants to be a millionaire?". Sträter was the first contestant to win 64,000 euros on Thursday evening. He was already visibly annoyed by Oliver Pocher's jibes against Amira in the background. "I don't want to have anything to do with it," laughed Sträter at one point. "But: you can or can't be self-deprecating." Oliver Pocher: "You can or you can't." Amira Pocher a little later: "Oh, it's so funny today!"

Sträter then distinguished himself with possibly the most ineffective use of a telephone joker. First, he greeted Austrian cabaret artist Josef Hader at length, even though the timer was already running. When Hader asked "Can you tell me the four letters again?", Sträter made a joke at his own expense: "ABCD". Then the time was up.

"Zur Ritze" brings luck on WWM

Reiner Calmund was fully focused on the task at hand during his appearance in the celebrity special of "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?". The former Bayer Leverkusen soccer official played his way straight to 64,000 euros. After the Pochers, this was also the prize won by singer Sasha. The Hamburg native was really lucky when Jauch wanted to know what was in the cellar of the pub "Zur Ritze" on the Reeperbahn for 32,000 euros (answer: a boxing ring).

Sasha was then helped to win by "Who wants to be a millionaire?" champion Ralf Schnoor. He had the right nose, albeit the wrong explanation. Jauch had asked about two US presidents with astonishing historical parallels. His former winner guessed Abraham Lincoln and John F. Kennedy. "Because we don't know who assassinated them," the restaurateur speculated. Wrong, Jauch realized.

The answer was nevertheless correct. Among other things, Kennedy was elected to Congress and the White House exactly 100 years after Lincoln, as Jauch explained. "Who wants to be a millionaire?" is taking another break from "Bauer sucht Frau". Jauch returns on Boxing Day with another special edition.
