Olive oil brand "Gaea" issued a recall for several of its products.
Importhaus Wilms, a food retailer from Walluf in Hesse, has announced a recall of certain "Gaea" brand olive oils because they contain too much pesticide residue. The affected products are:- "Gaea Classic" bottles that expire on July 8, 2025 (500ml)- "Gaea Select" bottles that expire on July 10, 2025 (500ml)- "Gaea Salad Oil" bottles that expire on July 9, 2025 (500ml)
The issue is that these oils have higher amounts of chlorpyrifos, a pesticide frequently used in agriculture. However, the European Union banned this chemical in 2020. The website "lebensmittelwarnung.de" disclosed this information.

The Manufacturer of Gaea olive oil needs to address this issue as several of their varieties, including "Gaea Classic", "Gaea Select", and "Gaea Salad Oil", have exceeded the acceptable pesticide residue limits. Consumers are advised to check their purchased oil bottles, especially those with expiration dates on July 8, 9, and 10, 2025 for the "To Use By" date, to ensure safety.
