East Germany saw the most impact. - Officials are increasingly recording homes utilized by far-right extremists.
The quantities of properties utilized by right-wing radicals in Germany have been progressively increasing. Evidently, the Federal Ministry of the Interior mentioned this to the Left Party. Earlier on, "Welt" had disclosed this information. As of February 28th, there were a total of 225 properties recognized by authorities, according to the Ministry. A year prior, on February 7th, 2023, there were still 210 properties.
It's not about conventional private homes. "Only properties were taken into account in the inventory where right-wing radicals had unhindered access, such as through ownership, lease, rent (i.e. possession or ownership) or through a relationship with the property manager. Other factors used in the evaluation were politically targeted and consistent use by right-wing radicals."
Elevated Surplus of Properties Utilized by Right-Wing Radicals
Especially recognized in the eastern part of Germany, there are 37 properties in Saxony, 36 in Saxony-Anhalt, 24 in Thuringia, and 21 in both Mecklenburg-Vorpommern as well as Brandenburg. Two properties had been confiscated in the course of a ban of a right-wing extremist union in the past year. In Bavaria, there are 19 of these properties, and in Baden-Württemberg and North Rhine-Westphalia, each has 16.
The true amount of properties used by right-wing radicals might be higher since the Ministry does not want to reveal extra details in certain situations, such as to protect informants from the scene. "Throughout the domestic intelligence services, there are confidential information about one more 125 properties," the Ministry wrote in its newest statement. The number is also increasing: In the previous year, it was 112 properties.
These properties are used for many purposes like events such as right-wing rock concerts and martial arts events, conferences, and networking gatherings, as well as for mail order, record firms, tattoo studios, and publishers.
The federal government points out that the occurrences happening in these properties are "particularly significant for recruitment and bonding operations within right-wing radicalism in Germany". They also offer financial support to the right-wing extremist community.
