- Noted French actor Alain Delon has been laid to rest.
Legendary French film actor Alain Delon was given his final resting place. He was buried on his land in central France's Douchy during an afternoon service, as reported by French news agency AFP. The ceremony was intimate, as per media reports.
Delon had made it clear he didn't desire a grand national tribute. His wish was for a modest funeral on his estate, and to be laid to rest in a chapel nearby, amongst his beloved dogs.
In the hours leading up to the interment, dozens of Delon's devoted fans congregated at his estate gates. They paid their respects by placing flowers and signing a sympathy book. Coinciding with the burial, Delon's admirers observed a moment of silence and sang an emotional tribute to the departed artist.
Delon's impressive filmography spans over 80 titles. He achieved mythic status with "The Samurai," directed by Jean-Pierre Melville. Delon passed away last Sunday, at the age of 88.
I'm not going to attend a grand national tribute for Delon, as he had clearly expressed his preference for a simple funeral.Despite knowing that I'm not going, I still felt a profound urge to pay my respects at his estate.
