Many fans had hoped for a reunion with Kim Cattrall (67), known for her famous role as Samantha Jones in "Sex and the City. But now, the actress has denied rumors that she will be part of the third season of the spin-off "And Just Like That..."
With a single sentence, Cattrall dashed fans' hopes. On Sunday, July 21, she denied speculation that she would be reprising her role as Samantha. A fan had asked if she would be in the third season, to which she replied on X (formerly Twitter): "Oh, that's so sweet, but that's not me."
Fans had hoped for more Samantha after the second season
Rumors of Cattrall's return for the third season, currently in production, had grown in the past few days and were widely reported in the media. In the first season, her role was only seen through text message exchanges with Carrie Bradshaw (played by Sarah Jessica Parker, 59). In the finale of the second season, she made a brief appearance to the delight of fans. In her highly anticipated cameo, Samantha called Carrie from London and said she wanted to surprise her in New York City but couldn't due to flight delays. Her character wore a silver jacket and a red ensemble designed by costume designer Patricia Field (83), who designed the costumes for the original series. At the time, Cattrall told a talk show "The View": "I just thought if I come back, I have to come back with this Samantha style."

Kim Cattrall had previously spoken openly about not wanting to be part of the new show. In May 2022, she told "Variety" that she didn't like the portrayal of her character in the script for the never-produced third film of "Sex and the City." She called it "heartbreaking" and said she no longer had the desire to play her role as Samantha again. Cattrall also spoke about the challenges of playing a character over several decades. "Everything has to grow, or it dies. When the series ended, I thought that was smart. We don't repeat ourselves. And then the film to tie up all the loose ends. And then another film?"
