New lawsuit against Trump vassal Giuliani

Trump loyalist Rudy Giuliani has to pay hefty compensation for slandering two former election assistants. Because the 79-year-old has shown no remorse, the women are taking him to court again.

Former New York mayor Rudy Giuliani, who has to pay almost 150 million dollars in damages for defaming two former election assistants, has been sued again by the two women. Ruby Freeman and Shaye Moss filed an injunction on Monday (local time). They want the 79-year-old to stop defaming them in future.

Freeman and Moss, who are mother and daughter, were election workers in the US state of Georgia in the 2020 presidential election. Giuliani, an ally of former President Donald Trump, falsely claimed after the election that helpers like them had thrown away ballots for Trump and counted fake ballots for Democrat Joe Biden. In the process, Moss and her mother were targeted by Trump supporters.

Statements on the storming of the US Capitol

The plaintiffs are now accusing Giuliani of continuing to spread the same lies for which he has already been prosecuted. His refusal to refrain from making such statements in future makes it clear that he intends to continue with his targeted defamation and harassment, according to the statement of claim. Both women received national attention last year when they testified before the congressional committee investigating the attack on the Capitol. People had threatened her and wished her dead, Moss said.

The two women eventually sued Giuliani for damages, accusing him of destroying their reputations and making numerous racist threats against them. The two women are black. Giuliani did not testify at the trial, but told reporters in court that he did not regret his statements and that they were true. Last Friday, the jury awarded the two women a significantly higher sum than they had demanded.
