New book likely to damage relationship between Harry and Charles

Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan no longer have a good relationship with the royal family in the UK. There is a rift. Now an expert says that this will be further deepened by the new royal book. But it also offers the chance for a rapprochement.

The rift between Duchess Meghan and Prince Harry and the royal family in the UK has become much deeper as a result of the latest book about the royals, according to one expert. The younger son of King Charles III and his wife Meghan have not distanced themselves from "Endgame" author Omid Scobie, said constitutional lawyer Craig Prescott. "They have made their position very clear. If they wanted a rapprochement, this would have been a good opportunity," said the royals expert from London's Royal Holloway University.

Scobie's book "Endgame" about the Royal Family has been making headlines in the UK for days. The Dutch version was withdrawn from sale at short notice because it published the names of two royals who Harry and Meghan accused of speculating about the skin color of their then unborn children. According to consistent reports in the British media, those named are King Charles III and Princess Kate. Author Scobie, who is said to have good relations with Meghan, claimed that he never mentioned the names in his manuscript. The Dutch translators contradicted this.

The Times newspaper recently reported that the names had appeared in the preliminary version that Scobie's agency had sent to the Dutch publisher, but not in the later final edition. "If they were to distance themselves from the book, it would be a great peace offering," said expert Prescott about Meghan and Harry. Referring to the author's contacts with the Duchess of Sussex, he said: "You do wonder how much cooperation there was." Scobie had emphasized that he had not spoken to Meghan for the book.

The controversy surrounding Omid Scobie's book "Endgame" and its alleged mention of King Charles III and Princess Kate's names in relation to speculations about Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's children has further strained the relationship between the British Royal Family and the Sussexes. Despite Scobie's denial, the incident has raised questions about the extent of Meghan and Harry's cooperation with the author, potentially affecting the likelihood of reconciliation.
